UPDATE: It is with profound sadness, that I have to update our beautiful site with the news that my wonderful co-founder (best friend, sister, soulmate), Karen Chesleigh, passed away in August 2022 after a very short illness. She was honored at a memorial on August 13 (8-13) by her loving daughter and husband - joined by her brother, sister, nephews, close in-laws, dear friends and hundreds of colleagues - all of whom were so important to Karen and a large part her happiness during her short time here on earth. Karen touched so many people with her ethereal beauty that was matched by her angelic kindness and compassion. I’m so sorry for her family’s loss, but I’m also glad for them that they had such a special person in their lives to call their very own mother, wife, sister, aunt.. As someone who was deeply connected to the magically creative and soulful part of her, I know Karen’s light will never go out and that she continues to connect with all of her loved ones still here through signs…“winks”… like white feathers, butterfly sightings, hummingbirds, dragonflies, 813s and 831s in addresses and receipts and room numbers…and smelling roses where there are no roses near. I watch for her “winks” everyday and am thrilled to receive them…and I will forever miss my dearest friend. I keep this site up as we decide what’s next for One Meaning. One Meaning was born of our collective magic and I encourage you to read about it below, and a bit about our friendship in “Our Story” by clicking the photo above. -With love and gratitude, Ingrid
One Meaning is a philanthropic fine jewelry and gift company. Made in NYC, all of our designs incorporate a beautiful and unique symbol we invented that stands for love. A butterfly made of the numbers 813, which means "I love you"...8 letters, 3 words, 1 meaning. The 1 is in the middle because love is the center of everything.® We formed the numbers into a butterfly that signifies you're becoming the change you'd like to see in the world. We like to think that our symbol conveys that the wearer is open to the transformation that love and kindness can bring. We're honored that many people around the world have made our symbols into tattoos - you can see some of them here.
Our Mission Statement: To help bring awareness to the power of love. If we give of ourselves and deal with each other as individuals, with compassion in our hearts, we can advance as a society and allow ourselves to grow spiritually. Tolerance and kindness is of the utmost importance, and the very basis of humanity. Our symbol is a beautiful reminder, a talisman, a statement that this is the direction we strive to move toward.
In browsing our pages, we hope you'll discover that One Meaning is more than a brand of jewelry or gifts...it's a philosophy of kindness and core message that love is the center of everything.
From its inception, One Meaning has partnered with hundreds of foundations and charities to lend our support. As a company based on love, we feel that’s important to do. One Meaning has always been, and will continue to be, a giving and supportive company that strives to embody our mission statement. Over the years, we featured a charity on our site each month, to which we donated a portion of sales. We continue to do that today, under our 8134 Giving program. We help shine a light on those who are helping others to fill the needs in meaningful causes, and we act with kindness and responsibility in everything we do: in our materials, packaging, messages, designs, methods, customer service, and partnerships. We're proud of these very conscious decisions. If you're involved in an organization or cause and would like to apply for a piece from our collection to be used in your fundraising efforts, contact us! In addition, if you're a school or youth group and want to participate in our Stick up for Love! Kindness Movement, contact us!
Hey, love really can change the world. As a leader of transformation once said: "If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliché that must have been left behind in the 60s, that’s a problem. Peace and love are eternal." — John Lennon
